Cleaning the house is a tedious and time-consuming chore for everyone. A person with a chronic illness or disability will find it even more difficult to clean the house. It’s not easy for a person with a disability to move around the house with as much ease and spend hours cleaning the house as an average healthy person. However, to make things easier, here are a few cleaning tips that you can apply.

Vacuum cleaner

There are different types of vacuum cleaners available in the market. The heavy ones will be difficult to use. The small, lightweight and compact one will be more easy and comfortable to take them around the house for cleaning. You can vacuum clean the floor, rugs, carpets, sofas, cushions, curtains, and mattresses. Don’t go overboard and exhaust yourself by cleaning all at once. Take your time and prioritize the areas you want to clean first. Take breaks in between or continue to vacuum clean the remaining areas the next day. Dust your furniture, electronic appliances and the corners of the room

Cleaning Dishes

If you soak your utensils in water for some time, it is easy to scrub off and clean the utensils. You don’t have to put too much effort and time in scrubbing. However, if you have a dishwasher, you can place all your dishes after dinner and run a full clean. Also, the dishwasher can wash plastic items. You can wash your plastic gardening tools in the dishwasher. After washing other items besides the dishes, go for a full clean before you wash your dishes the next time.

Cleaning the microwave and refrigerator

Refrigerator and microwave are where we spill our food most of the time. After a while, it gets dried, and we find it quite difficult to clean or get rid of the odor. To clean your microwave, cut a lemon into half and put both the slices in a bowl of water and microwave for a few minutes. Allow it to cool down and then take a sponge and clean off all the debris and food particles from the microwave.

To clean your fridge, mix equal quantity of water and white vinegar. Pour it in a spray can or bottle. Spray the solution and wipe off with a clean cloth. This solution will not only clean the fridge but will also deodorize it.

 Washing clothes and cleaning bathroom

You don’t have to wash your clothes every day. You can wash your clothes every alternate day or once in three days in the washing machine.

Don’t do all your chores in one day. Allocate the work over the week. If possible, share the work with family members. If they can share the workload, you can finish the cleaning work in less amount of time.
